I got a deal on my 20" A Custom Ride and am amazed at the difference it has provided in my playing. Unlike the darker sounds of the "K" series of rides, it's light, "cutting" and very bright. The bell is distinctive and not unlike that of a Ping Ride's overall tone. As a drummer in a ZZ Top Tribute band, every beat and accent has got to fill the sound spectrum. Riding the A Custom cymbal adds nicely to the musicality and overall tone of the percussion in a song. It's very responsive without the ringing overtones other ride cymbals have when you come off of it. The bell has a distinctive sound that cuts through the band's volume to accent beats without being overpowering or too loud. In short, this is an excellent addition as a main ride cymbal. It easily responds to all types of stick action and maintains a steady tone throughout being played. It's light, bright and responsive through all types of beats, accents and pressures. It really makes a difference in your sound at any volume. You will not be sorry you chose the A Custom.Read full review
I play in a classic hard rock group, and today's cymbals are fine, but you won't know what you are missing until you add this ride. Thinner than my other ride cymbals, this baby also crashes. Listening to the recording of our last gig, you can tell that the cymbal blends in much better than my previous rides.
