If you like Mario Kart 64 then you’ll also enjoy Diddy Kong Racing (DKR). DKR has many of the same elements that make Mario kart fun: great tracks, weapons, a large selection of characters and great music. DKR also has unique aspects to it as well such as being able to choose from different vehicles like hovercrafts and airplanes and it has a few secret characters you can unlock which makes exploring the game a lot of fun. DKR also has boss battles which was new to racing games but adds a new dynamic to the games that was a lot of fun to play. If you’re looking for a fun game for the N64 look no further

Took me 20 times to get the game to work, by taking it out and putting it back in numerous times before it finally worked. And it sound likes a piece of plastic is bouncing around in the cartridge. For awhile I thought it wasn’t gonna work.

I am a real 64 fanatic, i own all the classics, smash bro, super mario, mario cart, zelda. Based on what i heard about this game i knew i needed it to finish my collection. The game is what you would expect from a 64 racing game. Pros: Cool cameos from charecters tha would later become famous, conker this means you, you to banjo. the weapon system is perfect and works without a problem. The game is just right as far as difficulty goes, not to hard or easy. Cons: even for 64 game graphics could be a little better.... There is a cheat for allowing two people to play single player, i don't think this should be a cheat, it should be a feature. Its the best part of the game. The story is frustrating, there are no explanatory cut scene's, the story line only exists in the instruction booklet, poor choice Nintendo. In conclusion, when playing this game its important to remember one thing. This game came out during Christmas, Nintendo had no other game's ready to release for the holiday so they looked at this one and hurried it up for the Christmas release date. Truth be told this game wasn't supposed to be released for month's . so remember when playing, this game was never really finished.Read full review
Anyone who still loves the complete safety of an n64 system...Safety? you say? Yes! any child under the age of 10 can use this system without the worry of scratching a precious dvd or a tiny dvd in the case of gamecube. The N64 system has many kid friendly games and by far one of the best is Diddy kong racing. It is a game of adventure and excitement for any child without all the guns and ammo, death car racing, teen rating stuff you want to avoid. I do warn people if they can't watch video game or movies with moving camera shots (motion sickness) there is plenty of this when they fly planes. The idea of the game is this: Timber the Tiger's parents go on vacation and leave their son in charge of the island they live on, leaving him and his friends to race for fun. Their enjoyment is derailed when an evil, intergalactic, pig wizard named Wizpig arrives at peaceful Timber's Island and attempts to take over after he conquered his own planet's racetracks. He turns the four island's guardians: Tricky the Triceratops, Bubbler the Octopus, Bluey the Walrus and Smokey the Dragon into his henchmen. The only solution available to the island's inhabitants is to defeat Wizpig in an elaborate series of races that involves cars, hovercrafts, and airplanes. Drumstick, the best racer on the island, failed this challenge and was transformed into a frog by Wizpig's black magic. Timber sends a letter to his friend Diddy Kong to call for help and Diddy in turn recruits his friends Banjo the bear and Conker the squirrel while Timber gathers the remaining inhabitants of the island to help. They eventually complete all of Wizpig's challenges and confront Wizpig himself to a race and defeat him. Shortly afterwards, Wizpig leaves for his home planet, Future Fun Land. Fearing that Wizpig would again attempt to invade Timber's Island, the islanders travel to Future Fun Land for a second challenge. When Wizpig loses the second race, the rocket he rides on malfunctions and blasts him to a distant planet and peace returns to Timber Island for good. Each world contains several race tracks, an unlockable battle stage and a race against a boss character. Depending on the race track, players may have a choice of using a car, hovercraft or plane; this choice is restricted on some tracks. Each race track contains Zipper devices that give a short-term speed boost to racers that cross them, and balloons of various colours that provide powerups to racers. If the player beats Wizpig in Future Fun Land and obtains the amulet pieces and gets all of the gold medals, the player will be able to play in a mode called Adventure 2. In this mode, all of the balloons are silver and the tracks are flipped from left to right. The silver coins are in different locations in each track, often in harder to reach places There are three different vehicles in the game. The car and/or plane are not used for some tracks. Car - The Car is the standard vehicle of the game. Hovercraft - The Hovercraft is a vehicle used to travel over water and land. Used in all tracks. Plane - The Plane is used to fly. AGAIN MOTION SICKNESS WARNING!!! Diddy Kong Racing won the Console Racing Award at the 1998 Interactive Achievement Awards and I have to say it was the best racing game made that year with all the hype of Mario Kart 64 the Diddy Kong racing just added adventure and different vehicles to make it far beyond Mario Kart. Thanks for reading enjoy! CyndyRead full review
This is a pretty fun game with a mix of Mario Kart and Mario 64/Donkey Kong 64!!! This is similar to Mario Kart except for a few things: 1. Different Vehicles - These consist of the Race Kart, Hovercraft and, Plane!!! This allows you to race with more than just a Kart like on Mario Kart 64!!! 2. Levels - This game consist of Levels where you must collect balloons in order to proceed, much like in Donkey Kong 64 where you collect golden bananas in order to enter certain areas!!! 3. Bosses - I actually find the fact that you have to race bosses like the dinosaur pretty fun!!! This makes the game a bit more of a challenge because the bosses are not all that easy!!! I would not say this is any better than Mario Kart because if they had came out with a Mario Kart that was like Diddy Kong Racing it would probably had been an awesome game and been a lot better than this one!!! This game is by far not a waste of money so, if you like Mario Kart you will most likely like this one!!!Read full review
