Being a long time fan of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe and having read the books several times over the years, when I saw this item available, and knowing I had a 14 hour drive back to New Orleans coming soon, I decided to give the audio book system a try. This had been one of my favorite stories, if one can actually pick a favorite from the Nero Wolfe series of books. It had been a few years since I had read this story, I think I liked this one because it had a different twist, Archie Goodwin was the main client. The book is read word for word, it flows at a very nice pace, with enough voice tones to keep you from becoming too relaxed and dosing off. My wife and I both enjoyed this very much, and the 6 and 1/2 hours of story made the 14 hour drive seem much shorter. My only complaint was that I did not purchase a second story to listen to, oh well next time I will know.Read full review
Engaging story that makes the commute go by quickly and easily. Narrator is pleasant and easy to listen to. I would listen to another in the series and normally I do not care for audio books. Crime noir, if there is such a thing, guys in fedoras in New York City, femme fatale dies early--go Nero, Go!
