I just finished installing two of these on my main water valves. I had used some shark bites on some of my plumbing in the past and was worried about a catastrophic leak. Each unit coming with a sensor made things a little cheaper. I used a Smartthings hub for the z wave connection. I used three additional Zooz water sensors which appear to be identical to the Dome, are a little cheaper and work perfectly. My valves are a little tight but the unit opens and closes both valves with no problem. The units seem very sturdy and were very easy to install. Configuring everything took a little research but all the info was on the manufactures web sites, E-mails to customer service of all the companies involved was great. I tested all the sensors and they all activate the valves. If I ever have a real leak I guess I'll know then if this system really works. So far I'm very pleased with the equipment and the way it works.Read full review

This valve actuator internal gearing broke within a few days of installation. The design is not nearly as strong as an actuator that mounts over the valve stem. I have now replaced this valve with an Econet Bulldog. The disadvantage to the Econet design is that the existing valve in the water line must be replaced. If you have to replace the valve anyway, buy one like the Econet design. Finally, Dome is no longer in business, so there is no warranty on the valve.

The device paired easily with my Smartthings setup and was easily to install. It had *just* enough horsepower to shut the valve on the 1 in. main coming into my house, so I am pleased overall. I would, however, be vary wary of an application where this unit is used as something other than as an emergency shut-off; it sounded like it was working really, really hard. A common complaint about this unit is that it isn't powerful enough for valves on the sticky or tight side; after seeing this unit in action, I can certainly understand that. My advice to potential adopters would be to check the valve they want to use it on, make sure it is easy to open and shut, and lubricate if at all possible.

It works nicely with VeraLite and saves a lot of pipe adjustment costs since it just straps in. It works for most situations, but if your ball valve is too close to the edge of a hard right angle, you might need to evaluate the value of this unit. I have two and bought one more since these are affordable and costs a fraction of a z-wave ball valve.

The valve control works well, not battery, but powered by a plug. The sensor worked well for about two weeks, but hanging in a damp sump well upset the sensor. The main sensor works well, but the remote sensor is now registering false wet. The humidity corroded the contacts in less that then three weeks. Now I just get false positives from the remote wired sensor.
