I've collected many of the DC Archives since they first appeared over 20 years ago. Nice reprints of difficult to find, and expensive old comic books, in a solid hardcover format. FLASH is a flagship title of The Silver Age of Comics and one of the best super-hero titles of the 1960's. Most pop culture historians believe that the success of The FLASH ushered in the Second Heroic Age of Comics in the late 1950's/early 1960's. But DC has turned its attention from the Archives series to new compilation formats, and FLASH Vol. 5 is a rare and infrequent addition to the line. Print runs appear to be down from earlier days, and the new books show up without much fanfare and disappear into the collectors' market rather quickly. Volume 5 of The FLASH is a worthy continuation to the previous four volumes, though reproduction is a bit spotty in places, preventing this book from receiving an Excellent rating. If you've collected the previous volumes, Volume 5 is a must-have and you don't need my urging to find it. If you're a curious outsider to the wonderful world of classic super-hero comics, and want to get an idea of the style of 1960's super-hero comics, it's always a good idea to start at the beginning, with Volume 1.Read full review
