This opener so far seems to work fine on the lightweight field gate. The two pivot ends are made of a plastic material, but don’t use this gate a bunch so should hold up. I’m satisfied with the price and quality of the product in this application.

We have used a Mighty Mule Gate Opener for many years. When it works it is awesome. I gave the product 3 stars. The problem is that this unit lives outdoors and is subject to weather and insects and then you have a big $$$ problem. If it is an outside product the circuit boards and transmitters should be built to exterior quality. We have had about 5 units. The problem is there is NO customer service from Mighty Mule. If you pack up the unit and return it they claim they will repair and return. But they don't answer their phone if you have problems or questions.There is no way to get an estimated repair price. So we just buy a replacement and pay the price because we need a gate.. If you call the main phone number someone answers and gives you a repair number to call but no one answers. For a while we could use some old parts to put together a working unit. Then they modernized the design (but not the components) and design changes meant we could not do our own repairs. The transmitters are expensive and fail all the time. I have about 6 failed key pads and 2 failed fobs. I just wish the product had better components and a company to back up it's product.Read full review

I've seen lots of mixed reviews about this gate opener, but for what it costs vs other brands, I think it's a darn good value. The hinge points are a bit weak and flexy, but proper mounting should ensure it doesn't become a problem. The eyelet on the pivot end (where it mounts to a stationary post) is plastic and may not last all that long if you don't maintain it well. But, it works great on my 12ft aluminum gate, and I had no problem syncing the remote to my car's homelink buttons. The included compact remote is single button rather than an Open button + a Close button. Range is excellent, good for about 150ft. Takes about 10sec to open or close. Overall, I'd recommend this gate opener.

This is probly the best gate opener on the market, for the cost, I did lots of shopping, I bought the 260 model for a 10' tube gate, lite duty, it works fine, and, it beats the hell out of getting out to open and getting out to close.
