This is a very inexpensive camera. The image software is adequate and it's relatively easy to use. Forget about the sound -- the codec must be wrong because it's buried in continuous clicking/static. For the money, I'm surprised it does anything at all, but it is a neat toy and you might be able to find some use for it. That said, did I mention it's a very inexpensive camera? The image chip appears to be VGA at best, possibly only 240p. The manufacturer's published specs are a bit of a fraud. While it can upconvert it's output to 1080p, no way in heck is that its native resolution. The image is pretty poor. You won't be able to see any license plates if a vehicle is moving. If you want a dash camera that would record images that might help you in case of an accident, you probably want something that costs at least twice this. It runs on a mini-USB connector, and comes with a cigarette-lighter power supply and a nice, long cable, as well as an auxiliary cable you can use to either hook it up to your PC/laptop, or run with a USB battery pack for a couple of hours. Combined with a $5 USB power pack, it's probably ideal for a child's tricycle or tea party, but you may be forced to watch the video afterwards.Read full review

There are a lot of listings for this 'no name unbranded' dash cam. You get exactly what you pay for, and that's actually OK by me. But if you are looking for something with a decent quality video recording, I'm guessing you will have to pay significantly more than $10 to $12. Don't be fooled by the 1080P HD nonsense. My smartphone with only 720P actually takes a MUCH better and TRUE HD quality video. The night vision is absolutely worthless if you actually need detail, such as a license plate number. Even in a stopped position at a toll booth, the video cannot barely make out the license number of the car directly in front of me under lots of light. I really hoped this would be clear enough for a 3 star rating, but it's really bad video quality. Obviously it will record events, and for that, it could be useful in an accident. Ironically, the sound recording wasn't half bad (which was mostly the music in the car, or conversation at the toll booth). My unit has no issues recording. And I was actually able to set it up per the somewhat poorly written directions. You'll need glasses or a magnifying glass to read the detail, unless you have stunning 20-20 vision. I purchased a high quality (i.e. brand name) 32 gig MicroSD card and it works fine. No read/write issues. I would have rated it 3 stars / OKAY if they would be honest in the product description about the true video recording quality. As to the other features (such as G sensor or motion detection), I have not had use for either one yet. The suction cup / bracket attached securely and easily.Read full review

I have been getting these style cams for a while, but this one is just terrible. Especially in low light like dusk or indoor garages. It does not work at all at night. Even with ev maxed out. I used to think this was a good model, but now with 2 bad buys of this model Iam done with this one.

It is not night vision, I can barely see my own foot at night with the IR light. It cannot see the IR illumination from my security cameras. I have not tested much alse because the night vision was my motivation. My conclusion is that this device was manufactured with the intent of deception.
