This a great sounding headphone. Wide soundstage with astounding clarity of high notes. The bass is tight and just right. Well balanced and extremely comfortable for long wear times. Needs a good headphone amp to drive these cans. Downside.....open backed and not good sound isolation. Meant for a dedicated listening environment. Overall, a great buy.

Pros- Detail, Soundstage, Timbre, Control, Realism, Comfort These are very detailed HP's, you will hear things you never noticed in your music before. The bass is good and tight, very controlled. Not quite as good as planar base, but very good. No bloat or muddiness here. Mids are sweet and warm - similar to HD-650. Treble is extended and present. Guitars, piano sound very natural, like someone is playing live in front of you. Spatial Accuracy is very good, easy to pick out where the bass player is vs guitar, etc. Most comfortable HP's I've tried. Light clamp. pads are shaped like D(matches your ears), and they are super light. Cons - Treble can be hot with bright amps. So, pair them with a warmer amp, tubes are best. Included cable is annoying, it always gets kinks and is impossible to keep straight.Read full review

Soundstage, Imaging Separation, Clarity, Smoothness, all perfect. Amount of bass is not much, but extension and details in the bass are excellent. And this is the kind of bass that I like, because it is "real". Many manufactures nowadays are emphasizing certain range of sound to please listeners without enough real live experience about how musics originally sound, and that is not right. Some old Sennheiser fans gave negative comments to HD700 because HD700 has a totally different sound signature with traditional Sennheiser products like HD600, 650 and 800. But personally I enjoy HD700 very much. You do need some serious amp to drive HD700 or they can sound even worse than some cheap cups.

I have a pair of HD 600s that I stored away for close to a year. A couple of months ago I pulled them out and gave them a try on an amp that I recently purchased. They weren't what I remembered. I liked them! They were open and airy. The 700s are the 600s on steroids. Granted I am using a set of Corpse Cables (not included but, highly recommended). They have an excellent soundstage, great separation with decent bass and a lot of definition. They are perfect for jazz. I would also think that they would be excellent for classical. They are quickly becoming my favorite headphone.

Amazing sound and spatial. Great for personal devices as well. I have a hp amp for this but the apple devices drive these well enough alone to enjoy. They truly shine when connected to an amp of there caliber. Have converted many fans of more mainstream and even more expensive brands over to the good side with these beauties. Love 'em!
