I had picked up this book at a yard sale and liked it so much ordered a second copy on eBay for my Accupuncture Doctor as a gift. The author is a Stanford MD and also a Native American Indian Medicine Man. This is a look at traditional medicine and alternative medicine and some of the results good and bad. Makes me want to experience alternative medicine at one of the many Native American Indian Reservations in New Mexico and elsewhere. Also makes you wonder how many times you have seen a traditional MD do a little tap dance to cover for one of his colleages - how many time have we experienced this? Sometimes you are lucky enough to have a doctor who is not "tap dancing". Interesting reading and for those of us who live among Native Americans in the United States a closer look at their cultures and beliefs. A close look at many Native American Indians' legends and stories. If you read Tony Hillerman you might also find this interesting although it's not what you usually call a mystery. Various Native healing practices are authentically described and woven alongside allopathic threads, also reliable and authentic. Coyote Medicine is a book I first read soon after it was published and, as I'd borrowed that copy it's a book I wanted for my own shelves - to read again and to keep as a reference.
