I haven't played any of the Buzz games on PS3, but this game is a GOOD entry into the series and is an all-around good family game!!. With support of up to 8 people(4 additional controllers required). The "Sofa vs. Sofa" feature allows you to play on the PlayStation Network with up to 3 other people, and although you can only have one person playing per console during online play its not such a bad thing to have ONE person control the buzzer in your living room and just get the answer from others. Another good feature is the ability to create your OWN Quizzes online via MyBuzzQuiz.com, and dont worry about getting mature content as the game has a feature that allows you to have mature questions and is not allowed as a default setting. All around its a good game and even gets the entire room involved for a few photos during multi-player if you have the PSEye(sold separately).Read full review
I have been looking for a good family game show type game for quite a while. I LOVED the EA game Twisted on the 3DO years ago. This is a genre that I have felt has been under explored. I toyed with the idea of purchasing Scene It! for the XBOX 360, but was concerened that the question sets would be limited to pop culture films and would keep my kids who are 10 and 6 from playing. I then stumbled upon Buzz! Quiz, which has been available for the PS2 for a while, but I missed the boat since my PS2 collects dust next to my next gen systems. The first time we played the game as a family, we absolutely loved it. We found that all members of the family could participate, and the kids loved the themes. They couldn't hang with the adults, but they still enjoyed the experience because they have opportunities to guess correctly, and the visuals are quite humorous. Another limitation of these games in my mind was repetition of questions, but the network capability of the PS3 allows for access to a quesion bank of user made questions. This allows fresh, free content. This is a huge plus in my book. We loved the fact that we could also select focused categories or have broad, all encompassing games. The kids kicked our butts on the Toons category. There is also a leveling feature built in where the person in last place gets to choose the category. There are also elements of the game that can be strategically utilized to take out stronger players to level the playing field. The game falls shy of an excellent rating in my book only because the formula of the game is fairly repetitive. The challenges of pie fight, fastest fingers, etc. are set in order and their are not new challenges that are interjected. This is a minor complaint, but I think the game could be much fresher if there were different challenges and order of the challenges were varied. After reading other reviews, apparently this is the Buzz! formula, and it works. I really do feel that this is a great game that brings the family together. It would be a great party game. This is the best game I have played in this genre to be sure.Read full review
As a long time BUZZ fan, and frequenter of BUZZ! Quiz World for the playstation 3, I must say I had some high hopes for this game. The game in itself is good, it keeps to the traditional entertainment that makes this game so enjoyable while spicing up your time with new quizzes and game types. Unfortunately it fell short of my expectations just a tad as it seemed lacking from other titles in this wonderful series. While chuck full of new questions, there are very few categories, which after a couple playthroughs may feel as if you are falling into repetition. A couple more characters to choose from, some new sounds and the ability to actually input your name rather than selecting from a pre generated list brings freshness, while the actual gameplay, in my opinion, seems to fall a bit short compared to the past titles. I give it some slack knowing it is simply an extension of the core titles like Quiz World, but the game length is still a bit short. For some this can be great, but as an avid trivia fiend, I felt a bit cheated. All in all it is still a great game, and I'm sure I won't lose it's replay value for awhile. But if you're expecting another expansive getaway from Quiz World, you may be disappointed.Read full review
(PS3) Pros: A fun game for 3 - 4 people. The buzzers are easy and fun to use. Most of the rounds are ok (except for the bomb throwing round that we all dislike). The betting round is the best. One can download some additional content from the PS3 store on the Internet but additional content would be welcome. The game is a bit tedious with only 2 players. Cons: You can only play on-line by yourself against others, you can't do a 2 player couch to 2 player couch, or any other such interesting gaming combinations. The rounds are always the same and the format gets tedious after a bit. More downloadable content would be welcome. Overall, a very fun game with groups. You may find yourself regularly encouraging friends to come over for a little bit of buzz quiz.
I bought this because we love trivia at our house as a great thing during parties or just family time. Originally we had Scene it for the Xbox and have now switched to playing PS3 this game was reviewed well and doesn't require 4 PS3 controllers Pros: Fun and a ton of content. Lots of DLC available as well from the Playstation store. Came with the 4 buzzers required and works with other games like Buzz: Quiz World Cons: Because I bought it used I didn't get the buzzer instructions and had to search for them in order to get it working right.
