I need to stick a stack of paper underneath the cartridge slot to load the game and play it. I know it's the cartridge as I have a brand new Atari 2600. So it works but with a bit of jimmy help!

As a kid, I loved this game on the arcade. My brother and I use to travel down to the local arcade and play this hit, quarters in hand. As I got older, I started to look into finding the arcade original port. I loved the Atari 2600 version of this game, but I feel it wasn't the best version of this game at the time for the home console. The Atari 400/800 had a solid port of this game. That's why I'm giving it a 4 and not a 5. I think the creators could of sent a little more time on this version before releasing to the public. A great classic for the Atari 2600 and a definite buy for people looking for a retro experience from the pass.

these types of games i grew up with and at my age i still play them. my grand-kids love them also its much easier for them to learn on . donkey kong is easy to learn and has the differant levels of play and they are non violent unlike most of the complicated ones of today.
I bought this game because my family had it when I was a teenager. It was cool to play this at home and not waste quarters on the machine. Just to relive old memmories either makes me feel good or wonder what the heck I was thinking?! This game teeder todders between the two feelings. The game only has two different levels that gets harder and harder as you pass each set. There's not a lot of excitement in Donkey Kong, but none the less, the game is a classic and no Atari 2600 system should be without one. The same goes for Combat, Pac-Man, Asteroids and so on. My kids enjoy it and that's the main thing. It's a lot nicer to play than most of those mind corrupting zombie, blood splattering, shooting games that are out there now-a-days.
