With 32 volumes of the manga on my shelf and two tattoos on my body, it's fair to say that I am a real Berserk fan. I made a point to get my hands on this game as quickly as I could, since I'm also a game collector and it just made sense. When I actually popped it in, I found that it plays a lot like the PS2 Berserk game: Millenium Falcon which is probably a good thing, since it works. This is a game for fans of the hack 'n slash and beat 'em up genres of games. You, as Guts, will be stringing together combos of gore with your massive sword, arm cannon, repeating crossbow, and mini bombs. If any of that sounds bizarre, then Berserk may be too over-the-top for you. For the Berserk die-hards out there, it is important to note that this game does not follow the main story. Taking place between the third and fourth story arcs, this is a side-story penned by Miura for the sake of the game. At times it feels a little too bizarre, too anime cliché if you will, but then you aren't buying this old manga-themed Dreamcast game for top-notch storytelling, are you? If you are just looking for a good title for your Dreamcast but you've already bought every game with the SEGA developer logo on it, then Berserk should keep you entertained, but it isn't the easiest game to find anymore, so keep an eye out for a well-priced one. Long live the Dreamcast.Read full review
Guts rage is a hack and slash that is easily on par with Devil May Cry and God of WAR in fact I think that if Dante, Kratos and Guts were too face each other Guts would come out on top. Words cannot explaine how much I enjoyed this game and how much I still enjoy it even today. You play Guts a swordsman mercnary with a huge and I mean huge sword, your trying too find a cure for your lady friend Casca who has gone mute and quite bonkers. Your search leads you into some huge and bloody and I mean bloody battles. As you fight deal out damage and recieve damage you will fill up a rage meter and once your rage meter is filled you go crazy cutting everyone and everything too pieces. You don't only have your sword, you also have a rapid fire cross bow and an arm cannon that is very powerful and while you will be using your sword most of the time these things come in handy fighting in close quarters as your sword is so big that it will bounce off of walls. Boss battles are huge and awsome especilly the fight against Zod. My only complaint is that it basicly ends with a to be continued and they have never made any more over here, curses! Anyway if you like hack and slash games then Guts Rage will have you absolutley rivited.Read full review
I used to own this on it's original release, but since I gave my Dreamcast up and games a long time ago, I long regretted it and started a collecting the system and games again. This game is a must own for this system, especially if you are a Fan of the Berserk manga! It is a hack and slash game where you defeat waves of enemies using your long 7 foot sword and slashing your enemies to death. Lots of creatures and monsters(Mandragora)to dismember and maim, lots of blood and gore and a excellent storyline await you in this game. It is one to collect and own for any owner of the Dreamcast.
I would recommend this game to anyone who has not played it, the graphics are really good and the sound and controls are good. I made it to the very last level but have not beat it yet. Its a really fun game, if you like 3-D hack and slash type games then you will love this one. It's easy at first, and gets harder and harder towards the end.
I like this game because it is a hack and slash game that is easy to just pick up and play, and the story isn't bad. Since I like this type of game, to me it is worth playing more than once. The copy that I had somehow went missing, so when I saw one on ebay for a reasonable price, I decided to pick it up.
