Having played and own the NBA Street series, I was happy to see that Homecourt was not just another Street game like V3. The previous version was just a poor excuse for people to buy another game without making any significant changes to improve the game. Homecourt on the other hand, took advantage of PS3's hardware - the graphics in HD look amazing without being sluggish. The control takes some time to get use to but the variety of tricks and the cool dunks are excellent. It also improve the Gamebreaker feature to make it more challenging, you can now even steal the ball from your opponent and score your own Gamebreaker instead. Comparing to previously where you are almost hopeless against your opponent's Gamebreaker, it encourages people to play more D. While the different game modes are fun, sometimes the purpose of different modes aren't as clear that you have to play a couple times to understand the goal. As far as creating your own Baller, in Homecourt, unfortunately you have to settle for finding 2 NBA players that look like you and find something in between. So I guess if you often look in the mirror and thought you look like the child of Steve Nash and Ron Artest, you will be satisfy with the feature. However, if you are Asian, or unique looking, then you are out of luck if you want to create a character that actually look like you. Not that I am racist towards Asians (I am one myself), but hundreds faces to choose one, and only 1 Yao Ming...not exactly fair in my opinion. But it is just a game, so no need to read too much into that. So far there aren't that many games worth owning for PS3, but this is a game that is worth your time and should not disappoint you. If you already paid the big bucks for a PS3, then you might as well get this game and be entertained =)Read full review
Can you remember a great casual Bball game called NBA JAM? It was a hit on the arcades many years ago, and almost all the home consoles at the time received a port. Well, NBA Street homecourt is just like NBA JAM. It's fast, simple and most importantly, FUN. The trick system is simple and deep enough, the graphics are actually very good and the music matches the game's mood. It' great fun to play a quick match with a friend. I don't understand why this game is so obscure, and so incredibly cheap (I paid U$9 !!). Great dunks, fun blocks and much more. If you want to play a basketball game that's fun and FAST, go for it. But don't expect some kind of simulation, for that go for the classics NBA Live, Nba 2K and on. Have fun!!
I thought that it had good stories and fun game play... however it is missing the classic players that made the Old Editions great. I love the player control but I can no longer pick from Magic, Jordan, and Bird amongst all the other past greats. That fact, in my opinion, makes this just like any other "over-the-top" sports game. It over glorifies the new players while its predecessors placed emphasis on the old school. This is only one mans opinion, though. Play it for yourself.
This game is great for any basketball fan. It's graphic is great, gameplay is also nice. But the biggest bad thing is that this game hasn't improved much (besides graphics) since street 3. So if you haven't played the earlier versions try this game if you've played the earlier parts you won't see a lot new in the game.
Very Fun game. Unlike Part 2 that took some level of skill to perform crossovers this one seems very easy to just spam the trick button. Its almost impossible to steal the ball. Due to the lack of skill needed to be good im giving it 3 out of 5 stars. This game is mainly aimed at the younger generation for sure compaired to the earlier series. If you like very easy simple controls and nba jam style sports then you will love this game.
