the game is as you imagine it or have seen in the arcade, however I bought this for my son and friends in the 6-7 year range and even the easiest settings are a bit challenging--this particular item came with the dance pad which I found to be a bit flimsy--I bought a second more solid dance pad that makes quite a difference and would recommend this as an upgrade for the game.
I can't do the jumping up and down but I think just the moving of the feet will do me good.

It so much fun, I dance with my son who is 12 all the time. This game is fun for all ages. Put on your dancing shoes and dance away.
Works pretty well. squishy plastic is kind of weird, but it works, so hey. Also can get a cheap adapter and it can work with your PC with free ddr clone.
