About this product
Product Information
The Breakfast Club meets Resident Evil, with this survival horror adventure set in a typical American high school, the first video game developed by the French studio Hydravision Entertainment. Players take the roles of five different students attending the run-down Leafmore High School, each representing a different social-clique stereotype. Kenny comes off as a typical BMOC jock. His sister Shannon is an "A" student with first-aid training. Kenny's friend Stan is a bit of a delinquent, always scheming, while Ashley is a prom-queen-type with martial arts skills and Josh is a nerdy reporter for the school paper with a good eye for important details.
At least one of the five must survive through the story to reach the game's conclusion, but each possesses distinct abilities -- such as Kenny's speed and strength, or Stan's thieving skills -- so keeping as many of them alive as possible can make it easier to overcome various obstacles and survive surprise attacks. The students' exploration of the spooky high school corridors is punctuated with fast-paced running and shooting action sequences. In good adventure-game style, players will also need to fill their inventories with whatever items they can scrounge, and figure out how to use or combine this equipment in order to solve puzzles and progress through the story.
Obscure was previously released in Europe under the title Mortifilia. Prior to development of this survival horror game, Hydravision created Zombies, a series of French language pen-and-paper role-playing rulebooks.
Obscure [for original xbox] and Obscure 2 [for ps2] are co-op survival horror games. They are pretty much the only full story co-op horror games in existence. Not sure why they didn't make more co-op horror games in the Survival Horror game trend of the early 00's. These also have music and clothes only from the early 00's so if you were a kid back then or teen these will feel nostalgic for you.
Gameplay:
They play almost identical to the Silent Hill's mostly focusing on whacking enemies with melee and giving you ammo sparingly. Ammo is kinda rare so I save it for uncommon creatures like tanks and flying bloodsuckers and boss fights. You have power drinks that give you health and the rare health pack that gives you full heal.
Story:
The story, without giving much away, focuses on the B-grade but good horror movies of the time, scientists and creatures. I give it a 10 out of 10 for story immersion. Read the notes and newspapers and computer emails like RE games.
Notes
You can get both 1 and 2 on steam for under 15$. The cutscenes won't let you stream them on the steam versions cause they didn't remove the drm from the ports so it thinks OBS is a VHS and you're trying to pirate them.
If you love old school survival horror this game is really a must and the story is better than the later silent hill games. Read full review
Is worth it get the game before the price goes up even more for me this game feels like resident evil game play I wish it had more puzzles great game to play with friends of course if you like old school games
This is an obscure (go figure?) title which went below the radar during its release. This is a must have for horror genre enthusiasts as well as for those who would like something a bit different and possibly challenging. Unlike many other genre games, this one you NEED the other members of your group to get through the challenges. I only gave it a "GOOD" rating due to the fact not everyone is up for this game. Also, this title is much better than its sequel. If someone liked the sequel, they will LOVE the original.
I decided to buy it from u because u were the most reasonable person out of ebay that had the game. I loved the way you got it to me alot faster then most people would have, I also loved the agreement mostly people dont agree with what i bargain but you are fanominal at your deal. it was well worth the wait & money & i hope to do business again with you.

this game was so unfairly criticized for being like all the rest, that no one ever stopped to appreciate the game for its pure entertainment value. i played and beat this game in 2 days cause i couldn't put it down. so fun, graphics are pretty damn good, and the creepy environments do a great job of setting the tone. really there were only about 2 complaints in all. reload was a little slow, and it was too short of a game. otherwise, i absolutely love this game!
