The TurboGrafx is known for it's shooters. This one is on the good side of "ok." It's a top to bottom scroller. You shoot anything and everything. You get cool weapon upgrades. It is a good game, and if it were by it's lonesome i'd rate it higher but the TG-16 has several shooters and by comparison this is not the best. If you want a shooter, I'd first get Blazing Lazers. If you're still not satisfied and need more shooter, then come get this one.
Thunder and Lightning Strike!" Go ballistic with intense arcade action in this vertical shooter! The year is 2090, and it could be our last. Waves of Alien invaders are terrorising the earth with massive firepower. Our only hope is Raiden, an untested supersonic jet fighter built with the ability to capture enemy technology and turn it against them! Power-up your laser for deadly accuracy or wide shots of lethal fire! Zero in with your homing missiles. Then nuke those alien fiends deep into space! You're on their turf now. Blast'em all and return victorious or they'll be back to finish us off! The HUcard conversion of the 1990 arcade classic Raiden is here courtesy of Hudson Soft and Seibu Kaihatsu Inc. GAMEPLAY Your ship starts with a simple firepower which can be massively upgraded (by collecting Red capsules from certain enemies) during the game with bullets that will rapidly cover the screen. The other main weapon is also available is the laser (collecting Blue capsules). Both these weapons can have their power upgraded by 8 times. You can also collect homing or straight firing missiles. (These can also be powered up 4 times). You also have limited super bombs that cover a fair range of the screen that wipe out almost anything in their path. Believe me when I say you'll need them all as Raiden is a very tough game and there are 8 huge levels to get through with lots of huge enemies and bosses so expect some very intense moments that push your dodging skills up! There are also other items to find like hidden fairies (that offer you power up items when you die) to medals and other items that increase your score. The PC Engine/Turbografx versions have no two player simultaneous play.Read full review
