The Monkey Island saga is known throughout the gaming world and is considered some of the best adventure games ever. The Secret of Monkey Island is the game that started it all. You control the hero Guybrush Threepwood who wants to be a pirate, but he quickly learns that he must go through three trials to become a pirate. On one of his quests he meets the lovely governor Elaine Marley and falls in love with her. Just as he thinks everything is perfect, she gets kidnapped by the evil ghost pirate LeChuck.
Point and clicks are one of my favorite styles of games. Monkey Island on the Amiga was my first ever point and click adventure game I ever played and I was hooked straightaway. This game puts you as the character Guy Threepwood a young lad who wants to become a mighty pirate. I already have this game on Amiga and PC but it's that good I brought it on Sega CD too. I would highly recommend it to anybody!
This game had it all...wish they made more games like this now a days...its right up there with the Kings Quest, Quest For Glory...most of the Sierra dos games!! Quality gaming at its best...Now a days--they just make games to make them, theres no real plot or adventure, its just the same boring gaming experience...Monkey Island should be in everyone's top 5 game of all time!
While the loading times are long, they aren't a game wrecker. They border on being a game wrecker, but this still retains the atmosphere of the game and it moves just fast enough that I don't get completely frustrated with the hardware.
