Spelling Challenges and More! (PlayStation Portable, 2007) is not a graphics intensive game that will blow you away. It is however a very fun and challenging game for all ages. Children would start the game at the simplest level, depending on the age provided when creating a new player profile. I, the grown-up, set up my profile and was started at an age appropriate level 37 or so.I quickly discovered how dumb I are and just how much I have forgotten in the intervening years since leaving skool. Hopefully you are not an intellectually vain person who gets their nose out of joint easily when you are shown your shortcomings. It was a gentle can of spelling whoop-@** I opened on myself not having been used to using every word in the English language. Or at least not the 25,000 included in the game. The sting of defeat is as bitter as being busted by your spell-check. A small self induced sting of defeat when attention is not paid to the prompts proffered. Or when one discovers that your grammatical butt has been showing all this time because you have been habitually misspelling a word or three and your colleagues who read your printed ravings haven't been telling you all along. This game will gladly hold a mirror up to your faults and wave it's dirty underwear out of the passenger side window and whoop "LOOKIT THIS! WHAAAHOoOOooo!" The game will reveal how you screwed up so you can learn from your mistakes. What a relief. The game is structured as a game show hosted by "Mr. Good-guy" and promises a raft of faux cash for your successes. You will not advance in the game if you simply suck excessively. So. If you are looking for a game to assist you in teaching or learning proper spelling within a structured PSP environment it is well worth the money to purchase this game. If you didn't buy your trusty PSP to do no damned learnin' and just wanna surf for porn and blow up imaginary people save your shekels and trip happily along down dumb-guy street. The dearth of games of this stripe for the PSP platform speaks volumes about SONY. What a shame. "Spelling Challenges and More!" is a small unsung gem worthy of any household with humans in it.Read full review
This is one of my favorite brain exercise games. It helps with learning and reviewing spelling skills in a fun and interesting way. It seems to be suitable for junior high school age to senior adult age. If you want to become a better at spelling and have a good time doing so, you might want to try this game.
This is a good game to keep your mind sharp. It is good for people of all ages & has a lot of different things besides spelling.
