In 2004, a game came out of nowhere that pretty much astounded most of the people that played it. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was an amazing game that blended stealth, gunfights, and gruesome kills all in one package. One of the most amazing things about this game is that it had 2 choices for every situation, you could either A) Run in guns blazing or B) Shoot out the lights and take out the guards one by one with satisfying stealth kills. Well, Good news is that Assault on Dark Athena has this game bundled with it (and with updated graphics), as well as a new chapter. I played through Butcher Bay, and needless to say, it was an amazing game and I enjoyed every second of it. However, Assault on Dark Athena was less satisfying than it's predecessor. The game starts out on a ship (Dark Athena) and it has that classic "shoot out the lights and kill everyone" feel, but it soon becomes replaced by "I can only withstand several gunshots, and I can't sneak around in this area that"s full of people." That's the problem with this game, Riddick feels too much like a weakling, yet you can't do what you're supposed to. Especially toward the end of the game, you are stuck running around in mid-day with no shadows around, while being chased by several people. It doesn't feel right for the game. Now it might have seemed like I just bashed the game, which I did, but don't get me wrong. It was an enjoyable game, and if you haven't played the original 2004 game then feel free to go enjoy this package, and think of Assault on Dark Athena simply as a bonus package. I mean this game retails for 60 bucks, and you can easily get it for less than half price which is completely worth it.Read full review
Escape from Butcher Bay, which is included in The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, is a wonderful remastering of the original on the Xbox. It still holds up graphically to many other games of late, with only a few noticeable hiccups along the way. The story and gameplay mesh together to perfection, and the game succeeds at making you feel like Riddick. The voice acting, especially by Vin Diesel, is top-notch and will leave you wanting more, while the stealth kills will keep you chuckling throughout the game. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and should be played by everybody at least once. Assault on Dark Athena, on the other hand, is sub-par when compared to Escape from Butcher Bay. It was indeed fun, but eventually wound down to a mediocre shooter, which didn't work well, because the controls are still more focused on stealth gameplay rather than run and gunning. It still has the terrific voice acting and gameplay, but only in spurts, and by the end of it all, you will most certainly feel a little bit let down. Overall, this is still a game you should definitely check out, if only at least for the remastering of the Xbox original. It really is excellent, and while the sequel may not live up to the first, it is still an enjoyable ride, and passable follow-up. 8/10Read full review
Once again you take on the role of Richard B Riddick. The dark gritty world of a killer on the run from mercs. I like how they kept the same feel as the older game (escape from butcher bay) which is also included in this game, so you can play both. I the only this I didn't like is what is was short game play. In less then 2 days you can solve it. All in all I would call it a good game, worth getting as it included both versions. There is some replay value on different difficulties. Haven't tried the multilayer as of yet but it should be good as well.
It is more or less a new Riddick movie(2 actually) which shows you the adventures of Riddick that they mention on all 3 Films but this time in the eyes of Riddick, The game is a slow paced FPS with alot of stealth elements thrown in (Cause Riddick is not exactly Rambo) another plus is that the voice actor is still vin diesel so it never feels unriddick. If you loved the movies, you will enjoy this bundle of two games

the game was over all pretty good. their were a few things that i though could have been fixed though. for example the load times imbetween parts of a level are rediculous they made me feel like i was playing the original playstation or something, also anything other than playing easy on the difficulty was rediculously hard when i got to any bosses. the game was fun, and it is a good deal because you get both game for a some what fair price. its definatly worth 25 or 30 dollars enjoy..
