I was not expecting too much when I got Dark Void.. because of all the bad reviews it got.. to my surprise I really enjoyed every minute of this game... from the ground fighting to the air battles.. I had a blast... the upgrading system of the weapons is very easy to use... no if and or butts you get a better weapon when you up grade making fighting more fun on the ground and in the air.... this was some of the best air fighting I have seen in a game.. it was so much fun flying in the air and shooting the turrets and alien space crafts’.. you continual improve your skills with ever level... making each level of flying a more enjoyable experience in this game.. I liked the unique way the ground fighting was done you get to fight in an inverted way on some levels.. putting a unique twist on ground fighting which.. just added to the overall feeling of the game… check points and save points are in good spots making it easy to take a break or start off not at the very beginning of a battle if you die… the hud was easy to use…. I did not like the cut seenes to much.. but those are easy to skip and move on to more battles.. which is a good thing…. Getting the money to upgrade you weapons Is not the easiest thing to do but hey do you want everything handed to you on a silver platter when it comes to weapons and upgrades… If you like to do flying games or just want to fight aliens in a different way.. you should give this game a try.Read full review
I picked up this title on the strength of one of the YouTube videos of game play. Besides that who doesn't want to fly a jet pack? I do not zoom through games and I have not finished this one yet but I will say that it is a fun 3rd person shooter. Dark Void is a single player game that draws you in easily. The AI for the bad guys seems very well balanced and they will suddenly take different tracks. This keeps the game play interesting and fresh. As you move through the game get used to and upgrade the weapons and controls the tough enemies get tougher as the different varieties of them are revealed. Even though this title is a few years old it is not tired. The graphics are clean and stand up on my Sharp Aquos 65inch screen. I have the contrast turned down a little bit too much but that will be remedied the next time I play. Oh Yea and my personal hero is in this game! (Tiny Spoiler Alert!) Nikola Tesla! Although, a beefier version of the scientific genius. The voice acting is pretty good and the story line seems to sort of make sense for the purposes of not getting in the way. It is a wide open world that you can wander around in but there is only one road to progress. LOOK UP! LOOK UP! LOOK UP! That is the most frustrating part is that as anyone knows NOBODY looks up. Well, in a 3 dimensional world (Not 3D) the path to progress often leads UP! If you do not realize this then you will spend a lot of time wandering around trying to figure out what you missed. So don't forget to look up. Did I say you should look up? There are lots of prompts when you are near cover. This is good and bad since this is definitely a game that makes use of cover. Generally, the controls are intuitive. It is fairly simple to get the hang of flying and moving around the map. And you cannot carry a ridiculous number of weapons so you have to pick and choose. But evidently once you try a new one out it is available in a Weapons Cash (few and far between) for upgrading and swapping. There is a good variety of game play ground sections of play as well as full flight aerial combat (I really enjoy this part). As well as a hybrid of flight and ground combat where you are vertical platform hopping (hint: platforms and rock ledges make good cover) Oh yea..I almost forgot edges! there are no invisible walls to keep you from stumbling off a cliff (there are lots of cliffs)You have to pay attention and even when you eventually get the jet pack it might not save you unless it is an actual flying level. All in all I am having a good time playing this one. The lack of an online component is fine with me as that means there is nothing missing due to shut down servers. So far it looks like I will be playing through his one for some time and that is just the way I like it.Read full review
As far as i have gotten I can say one thing... This game is perfect for people who love to enjoy free flying/ weapons action. Dark Void takes place in a area where you can always fly around and fire guns from the air while avoiding guns being fired at you! The story provided something new from a lot of other series, while still providing great graphics.
I've had the Dark Void for a few years, and now you can play it on Xbox one. With that being said, I finally completed the game, and hoping that Dark Void 2 will happen. It had a great story to it as well! I didn't want it to end...Two thumbs up.
