Dancing games and adventure games are wonderful family-friendly video games that the entire family enjoys. I had the opportunity to check out Happy Feet Two: The Video Game for Wii and we were excited. Unfortunately we didn’t understand the significance of the game for almost one week after receiving it. It took us a while to grasp the basics of playing but now that we understand what needs to be done in the levels and to advance it is pretty fun. Dancing is done by pressing the left over button near penguins. This is where we complications with the game in the beginning. While holding over may not work all the time, the game essentially wants you to groove to the beat of the music playing in the background. Meaning, pressing the over button exactly how the music beat is playing. Once the beat-maker gauge is filled, the penguin is added to join the mission with you. You’ll also notice flashing ice objects. They need to be broke by completing a stomp combo by pressing the right over arrow. Once broke collect the music notes. You can also climb objects, clap, jump and more. The music notes are throughout each level and you can collect them. There are some high paying music notes such as gold. When you accumulate enough music notes you can purchase new music to add to the playlist. Throughout levels there are hearts that can be picked up by dancing around them. Health is important to complete missions. There are also battles in levels which show a song on the bottom of the screen with a ball bouncing on music notes. Keep an eye on the ball and press the corresponding buttons to match. You may lose health if this battle is not done correctly. The game is one or two player. If playing one player, you can switch back and forth using Mumble or Ramon. So here are my thoughts on the game as a whole. It took us some time to get used to it. I think this game is too elaborate for toddlers. There are too many buttons to be pushed and sometimes it has to be done perfectly. There are also ice bergs which can lose health if bumped into. Gavyn who is 9, got the hang of it and turns it on daily now to play. I don’t think this game should be rated E for everyone due to those difficult controls. I feel children 8+ would enjoy this more. It is not an action filled game, more like a mind game to beat the levels. Breaking ice, freeing penguins, tapping to the beat of the playlist and doing many things to finish levels and freeing penguins.Read full review
