Outstanding game, collecting these vintage cartridges may require a simple cleaning process. But the game itself is awesome and very difficult. Two player co-op on the Nintendo was not the most common of games but both at the same time is most excellent.

This title, Legendary Wings, was made by Capcom in 1988 for play on the NES Entertainment System. Capcom is known for making well rounded games, and this is no exception. Legendary Wings shows off a different kind of way to play a shooter and that is what makes it different and fun. Story Legendary Wings is set 20,000 years into the future where you are a brave Greek warrior that takes on the task of saving mankind from the DARK sides underground bases. During your adventure, you will stumble across, many different enemies that you will have to defeat to get to the next level. If you fail this mission, all mankind is lost! Take wing, Legendary Soldiers! Yeah, the story is your basic save the world, super hero type thing, but there's just something different about it that makes it stand out. I don't know of another NES game that takes you that far into the future, so I'll give the story a high rating for being original to that extent. It's also sort of motivational to read of you actually have the instruction manual, which I luckily do. Overall, its a good story to back up a good game. Gameplay Here is where the game shines the most. You are given the option to team up with a friend and take on the baddies which makes playing the game much more fun. If you're playing by yourself, you'll will see that you are a man that has the ability to fly and drop bombs. There are five different power-ups that you can obtain, each with different levels of firepower. I recommend staying powered up if you want to beat the game. The controls are very responsive, pretty much the same as Sky Skark and Xevious, so it's not like Capcom is making you learn a whole different control setup, which is a good thing. There are five different levels, if I remember correctly, each with a different background, and a bonus area. You aren't given many lives, and that makes the game much harder, but who wants to beat a game in thirty minutes? There are also parts of the game that switch from the overhead view to side view, so you'll get another perspective there. That alone makes it look cool. There really isn't anything wrong with the gameplay, so expect not to be let down. Music/Sound Effects The music is very well sounding compared to other games at its time. It is a tone that sort of sounds medieval, but yet it's not aggravating, so the mute function isn't really needed here. The effects mostly consist of the boops, and bleeps of your guns and bombs, and all five of the different weapons have a different sound to them. The sounds are nothing to be ashamed of and make the game and overall success. Replay Value Oh man, I can play this game all day and night and never get tired of it. This is perhaps the most exciting aspect mainly because the game never lets you down. I don't understand why this game isn't more popular than it is because there really isn't anything wrong with it and it's good overall shooter. Summary This is one of the better NES shooters and if you don't have it, I honestly can say that it is worth the $2.00 that you'll most likely pay for it. Sadly, for some reason, this game got overlooked and is underrated. If you don't have it, get it. I can't express in words how much fun I have had over the years, playing this game again and again. Don't pass this game up.Read full review

The great thing about this game is the co-op two player mode. It is so much fun to get through the game with a friend. The power ups are great and the difficulty is just right. You have two play modes: top view or side-scrolling. If you love retro games and rail shooter you have to give it a try! The music is great too.
