Blast from the past! The 2D graphics and mind numbing music will make you appreciate today's technology. Choose from a variety of interesting teenage characters. Each person has different abilities and theme music. Try to lead Dave and two other friends through the mansion to save Dave's girlfriend Sandy. Sandy has been kidnapped by the mad scientist as a human experiment. But watch out for Ed and his quirky family, they'll toss you in the dungeon for trespassing. Or try to kill you. There are also two tentacles to interrupt your quest. That's right I said tentacles. Melancholy and hungry octopus arms that have their own agenda and make interesting demands. The point and click action can get tedious but hey, it's original nintendo.
I was a little nervous when the cartridge arrived, I plugged it into my nes and nothing happened. I spent a little time cleaning the pins and it worked like a charm. The graphics and sound are what you’d expect from an nes game, but the story the old LucasArts games used to tell made it worth it.

The NES port of Maniac Mansion, while having some edited dialogue and slightly changed graphics and music, is otherwise a very true representation of the PC version. I've loved this game since the first time I played it as a kid. Dave's girlfriend, Sandy, has been kidnapped by Doctor Fred and taken to his mansion to be used as a lab rat. Now it's up to Dave and two of his friends to infiltrate the mansion and find their way into the lab to rescue her, but the task is not an easy one! Dr. Fred's mansion is full of odd puzzles, people, and dangers! Only when your brain becomes as twisted as Dr. Fred's will you be able to think your way through!
Maniac Mansion is a Click and select style game for the NES. It is similar to Shadowgate, but the players are able to move around a room. There are several players to pick from, each having their own abilities to make game play different each time playing. Each player have their own music, which for an eight bit game is quite good. I would rate this one of the best games when it came to strategy click and select style games for this system.

This has always been one of my favorite Nintendo games. Unlike most video games, the point is NOT to walk around killing things. Here, you team up and explore and solve puzzles. It's a good story line and hours of nonviolent fun! Glad to own it again.
