it is still a fun game but MARCH MADNESS is so much better...you cannot create a player on your own team and take him into legacy mode..it is challenging if you have the settings right....not a bad game just not the best..it takes forever to set up this games settings and they are slow moving...........UPDATE...I WAS WRONG.....if you get the settings right this is the best college basketball game....yes it has some hangups cuz the game is so fast paced my ps2 cldnt really keep up with it.... but as far as game play and recruiting this is the best...i tried to go back to MARCH MADNESS after playing this for 2 weeks and I didnt like MM any more..this game kinda spoiled me..the best part is recruiting and building a team..then taking a better job and watching your old team do great cuz of the decisions you made the last 2yrs...i even got beat by my old team...how embarrassing....lol...but thats what makes it funRead full review
this game is a complete ripoff. i own NCAA March Madness 06 and the graphics, Dynasty, handling and plain enjoyment are 100 times better. this game is a waste of $20. an annoying feature is that the game always generates new names for the players in the game and the skin color, so you are always confused when you start over and you must check the stats of each player to see which one shoots the best and so on. the Legacy Mode is bogus. you are sent to a crappy school of your choice and must fufill high expectations with mediocre players. recruiting in 06 is actually exciting because you are putting it all on the line to win a player that might send your team to the final four. in 2k8, you have a time limit and can only do one task a day, so when you are rushed into recruiting, everything is jumbled and confusing. if you offer a player a scholarship 90% of the time they turn it down and become more disinterested in your school as they go. overall, playing the game was torture, i was actually glad when the game was over, so i could turn off the ps2. the game is that boring. new shooting techniques are very unrealistic, i can't make a lay-up to save my life with my 7'2'' center, but he can drain 50ft jumpshots all day long. the other poor feature is free throw shooting, it is impossible to make over 50% of your shots in this game becausethere is no real way of shooting. there only a way that sometimes works, and the booklet in the case gives no refrences or help to anything what so ever. the only positive thing about this game is the soundtrack ,but it becomes dull after a while, because the game has about 75 tracks, but only plays about 10 - 15 of them. don't buy this game, i would rather wait til dec. 11 for NCAA March Madness 08 to come out.Read full review

College Hoops 2K8 is an excellent college basketball game. There are a few downsides, but as a whole, it's great. The pros for it are the smooth game play, create your own character, customize tournaments, and some others. The cons are a lack of game options outside of tournaments and quick games. As a whole, its a good buy if you want some casual fun playing basketball.
