Closer to reality
If you are a PES (or Winning Eleven) fan, you probably already own this game. But for those that aren't sure about trying Konami's creation, this version would probably be a great one to give it a try! I've been playing soccer games from Konami since the very beginning, 20 years now, and it is very seldom they release a less than satisfactory soccer game! The PES 2017 has a much better feel of real play than the previous version (2016). Commentators are about the same but the graphics and playability are enhanced with an extra touch of reality, replays are also better and quicker. As far customizing goes, it is still the same as the older version, nothing! Which is sort of lame! I liked the older versions when you could upload photos and logos, customize the sounds of your home/favorite team... all that stuff, that was a lot of fun, not sure why these options are not being used lately. But wrapping up, gameplay and graphics are delightful.Read full review

Ruined by a single game breaking mechanic...
Graphics are stellar and animation much improved... yet there is one game mechanic that completely makes this game unplayable for me. ANY defender will catch up to ANY striker if they are the last line of defense. I believe they introduced this game mechanic to focus on buildup play but it complete ruins all immersion when you finally do manage to play a successful through ball to Aubameyang (one of the fastest strikers in the world), who then loses a footrace to Matts Hummels, even with having a 5 meter head start. You literally have to carry the ball into the goal on spam crosses to score in the game. Dribbling or throug balls are non-existent! PES was heading into the right direction with 2016; 2017 is a huge step backwards!
