I've always loved computer pinball games, from the Amiga and Nintendo 8-bit, right up to the Wii. I already had the Gottlieb collection for the PSP, and had heard that the Williams collection was 'on the way'. Well, I got fed up waiting, so bought a US import copy instead. And I'm really glad I did! As you'd expect nowadays, the ball mechanics feel absolutely spot-on, making for a very 'real' feel to the whole experience. The tables on offer are a good mixture, some quite basic, some very sophisticated, but they are all unique in their own way. You don't feel that any two tables are simply variants of each other - they all do something that the others don't. As with the Gottlieb collection, you start by having a few tables that you can play for 'free', whilst other tables require credits, which you can earn by playing the free ones. Alternatively, you can take the 'Williams Challenge', where you have to play each table in turn, trying to get more than a certain number of points, which varies from table to table. You get 3 goes on each, but if you don't get enough points on any of them then the challenge is over. But if you DO get enough points, then you effectively get to play all the tables without the need for credits. When playing an individual table, there is an option to see the instructions, which are very comprehensive, telling you the best way to score high points, and what each feature on the table does. I think this is great. I hate it when I 'accidentally' do something that gives me loads of points but have no means to find out what I actually did! No such problem with this game. For a small handheld game the amount of detail on the tables is extraordinary. The whole presentation is slick, easy to understand, and the tables themselves are very addictive. All in all, this comes highly recommended - the only mystery is why it's still not available in the UK!Read full review
I love this game cartridge! I use to love playing Funhouse and now I can play it any time I want. I have gone back and forth to the real pinball games and the Williams Collection did their research! Each game plays, sounds, and looks exactly like the real games! No more quarters wasted, especially since it is more than one quarter to play these types of games. If you are a fan of these pinball games or even just a fan of Funhouse I would say go out and buy this game! The graphics are great, the sound is incredible, and the game play will keep you coming back for more!
If your into older pinball machines and have either a PSP or a Wii this is the by far 1 of the best collections of the orignal Williams pinball machines. Relive Space Shuttle,Black Knight,Pinbot,Funhouse, and more with great graphics and realistic feel for the pinball action. I got this one and also the other collection available because in the 80's I was known as the local Pinball Wizard always playing for hours on end and then giving away at least 10 credits to whoever was around...now I can relive all the best machines without spend thousands of dollars on the full upright machine and always save my credits for later.
