I'm not sure why people criticize the graphics and gameplay/fun factor of this game. The game has a good contrast of bright and dark colors with detailed backgrounds. You can equip weapon upgrades as the game advances. The voicing and soundtrack is also good. I really do miss the days of Working Designs' reflective/colorful cover art and instruction manuals. No other publisher has really done this since WD went defunct in 2005. Anyway, I really like this game. My only complaint: the game is only single player.

It's simply one of the best and most underrated franchises in the vitical shooter genre. Lost planet isn't as good as silpheed for the Sega CD, but it's fantastic in its own regard. Ship customization before each stage, a story that unfolds as you play. Interesting enemy design and tight controls make this one of my personal favourites. Though, the soundtrack is a little weak. A far cry from the earworms of the Sega CD title, or earlier games of the 1980s
