Soul Bubbles in my opinion might be one of the Sleeper hits, Real good but didn't get much in the way of Massive General Audience press. As a Puzzler it brings some interesting game mechanics through the use of what can be described as "Bubble Physics" You start the game as a "Spirit Herder" and you have just become a Apprentice to a very wise, old and slightly nutty Master Herder whom takes you through the ropes of the craft. Essentially as the player you must ferry "Spirits" across a danger filled environment to a safe point and you do so by transporting them in bubbles which you blow across the board by dragging the stylus. Many neat puzzles await you requiring you to Blow new bubbles, Shrink you current bubbles and even cut them into small sizes to get them through tight cracks around hazards. Such hazards include pesky bugs and birds, falling rocks and spikes to name a few. One must be careful to keep the bubble in tact as a spirit cannot survive long outside of one. Graphically speaking the game is beautiful with very crisp backgrounds that remind me of paintings and this coupled with a very tranquil soundtrack make the game easy on the eyes and ears. The gameplay mechanical whilst taking a little bit to get use to becomes very fun, and you Blow and Cut you way to victory. All of these elements serve to provide a very enjoyable and unique experience on the Nintendo DS and DS lite. If you enjoy puzzle games and find using the stylus a fun way to spend time on your DS then I would recommend Soul Bubbles!Read full review
I had been looking for this game ever since it was announced. There are no Toys 'R' Us near me, so I knew I was going to have to go the online route, and I assure you I'm glad I didn't quit hunting for this title! From the moment I plugged it in and heard the opening tune, I knew I was in for a serene treat. The music perfectly sets the mood of the game, which is all about protecting the spirits you shield within your bubble through the maze-like levels to their final destination. There are no timers in this game. What a fun change of pace from your typical platformer. There are hazards, such as thorn encrusted vines or hungry toads (to name but a couple), but you know as you navigate your way through these areas you're never going to be backed into a corner by time constraints. This really encourages you to enjoy each little detail and explore the surroundings. And yes, the surroundings are a thing of beauty, as well. Little touches abound that make you know you're experiencing a lovingly crafted title. The bubble bounces and sways as a real bubble might, and the game itself handily does a good job of portraying accurate bubble physics. Dandelions routinely lose their seeds as you blow on by them, vines can be cut and fall in a very realistic fashion, and water brings about all new (and at the risk of sounding repetitive, realistic) properties to the bubble you've been tasked with protecting. This game will charm your socks off. I'm not going to spoil every detail for anyone; I fully expect copies of this rare DS title to be snapped up handily after reading this review. This game is digital Zen. Play it. Live it. Love it.Read full review
This is a very fun game, easy to learn and not too fast paced that anyone can play it, young or old. You draw bubbles around souls to guide them through various challenges to the safety of their portal to the other side. You have to watch out for critters that will try and pop your bubbles or steal them away. It is a very fun game! You also have to try and find the hidden food to get you through at the end of your mission. Very fun and very cute graphics. -Updated review... Couple weeks after getting and playing this game... I still love it! It seemed a bit easy at first, but that was a deceiving start! The game definately gets a bit harder the farther into your adventure you go! I love this game, it is great fun. I would say perfect for anyone over age 10. My 7 year old didn't really get it at first, but she is still trying anyways. Good for anyone over 10... even adults! (I am almost 30...)Read full review
I got this game for my son, and I have actually played it more then he has. I tell you, they did a great job with this game. I was a little apprehensive at first when I purchased the game because I had not heard of the game before, but was very pleasantly surprised when I began Playing it. The game sounds quite weird from the description, but makes a lot of sense once you start playing it. The graphics are great, the game play is excellent, and the music is soothing! Get that a nintendo game with soothing music. My wife can actually stand having someone playing it in the same room. This game is one of my new favorites, ranking up there with the new supper Mario brothers. It's easy enough to understand for younger players, and has some neat features for us older folks as well. Hope this helpsRead full review
For a game with such a straightforward premise--slide the stylus to create gusts of air to push a bubble through a labyrinth--Soul Bubbles will surprise you by how engaging it really is. Each world of five levels introduces new tools and obstacles: water, fire, fruits that give the bubble powers, gases which alter its density, and so on, until the last world ties everything together. It's immediately apparent how much thought went into the level and UI design for this game. The controls feel natural, and the puzzle complexity builds over the levels of each world so you always feel well-equipped for the later challenges. There are also optional hidden goals and sometimes more than one way to solve the same part of the puzzle. The world themes, both graphical and musical, are each unique and beautiful. I recommend Soul Bubbles to the sort of people who explore every little nook and cranny of a map before moving on. That instinct will serve you well in this game! I imagine it would also be good for kids with squeamish parents, as it has the fun of defending the bubble from attackers without any realistic violence.Read full review
