I have fun playing this game; which you can play on easy, medium, or hard. The later is near impossible, as you will have to fight 2 people at once. The game is easy or hard nor only by difficulty setting, but what character you pick. Xena is the fastest & easiest. Ares is hard, as is Joxer, cause they are slow. There are codes to unlock, so you can play as the villian, "Despair," or do other things like have Xena fight Gabriel instead of Hope. Some codes, however, are useless, like Titan mode. Why there is no Hercules or Iolaus in this game is beyond me. If the fates looked into Xena's mind to see the heroes, they would definitely have seen Hercules. It's fun cause you can play for a few minutes without having to get caught up in a long story line, but that's about it.

In 1995, Xena: Warrior Princess revolutionized the female heroine. She was living proof that woman can whip tail ends and look as good as the guys any day. And Lucy Lawless just looked good anyways...sorry ladies. So it's no wonder that considering Xena's success back in the '90s, that someone just had to try and use her name sake to milk the cash cow. Now usually people shouldn't have much of an expectation for movies or TV shows converted into games, because these sorts of titles can be stinkers. And Xena: Warrior Princess-- The Talisman of Fate shows us that Xena should have stayed on our local TV stations. The concept is fitting enough for an action packed show...it's a fighting game. Xena and her friend Gabriel must fight through multiple favorites from the hit TV series Street Fighter style, on their way to the top of the ladder. But don't kid yourself, this is by no means Street Fighter worthy. First of all, the controller layout is absolutely hideous. You use the C-buttons to do all the fighting and combo stringing. The only problem is that half the time, the buttons don't exactly respond when you need them to. Pulling off special moves is a chore...and ultimately a bore as you'll find that the special moves do almost the same ammount of damage as the basic moves. So basically your wasting your time and energy trying for a showy technique. It's easier to just cheese your way through this game with simple repetitive moves. That sort of takes away from the entire experience of a fighting game since you will want to be rewarded for successful combos. There is nothing spectacular or distinguishing about any of the playable characters... Ok, maybe it's a little tougher to play as Gabriel than Xena but believe me, you won't care. Even the unlockable bosses offer nothing new or fresh to the repetitive borish engine that drives this game. There's litterally no storyline segment or motive giving the game some push. Your simply thrust into each new round of combat untill you win out or die hard. The game is short and that's about all there is to be thankful for in this garbage. Even the graphics are as sloppy and choppy as the game plays. Xena kinda looks like an ugly Conan for crying out loud! You get the feeling that they slapped this game together like me and you make a quick and easy PB&J sandwitch. It's so hard to find even just one decent thing about this cart. Well...at least Xena still looks cool on the sticker label maybe. Actually forget that, I think i'll just have the rest of my PB&J now and forget this crap!Read full review
The game is based off of the tv series xena warrior princess which spun off from hercules legendary journeys, Both shows were great to watch both lasted 6 years on air, I would say out of what the tv series was about the game could of had a an adventure storyline type thing but basically its just fighting to defeat some of xena's past rivals. You would have to be a fan of the show to just really take in the appreciation for this game still a 4 out of 5 game to play.
It’s the game I bought, but it was carelessly thrown in a shipping envelope. It wasn’t wrapped in anything to protect it against the rain. Luckily I got it from the mailbox before it started pouring.
