This outdated book from 1997 explains why outdated books from 23 years before *it* are out of date, and how each generation must learn to manage their finances using rules that make sense to them. Some of the philosophical points are worth taking into consideration, but a lot of the implementation guidelines do not seem as relevant as they perhaps once did.

i bought this book to give to others. I read it years ago, and it changed my attitude towards work and how I would use my earnings, and how I would relate to my children and their needs as they grew up. The changes have been all for the better, and my second family has benefited from my revised attitude. Basically, it says don't spend all your time focusing on building a nest egg to be used at time X. Rather, figure you'll work longer, but less as time goes on, and share what you have now with your kids rather than have them wait 25 years and get the money well past the point where they really need it.

Lots of great info. Easy to understand.

This book goes against conventional financial wisdom. I wish I had read this book when it was published in the '90's. My employment would have went from a career to just a job and I would be far better off financially.
