The N64 controllers may have come in tons of pretty colors and with innovations (analog controls and rumble packs) but they are pretty non-functional. Looking for a more ergonomic 3rd party replacement I stumbled upon this one. It is more like the PlayStation/Xbox controller and easier to use. Not without it's problems, as all 3rd party controllers have, but a pretty spectacular replacement. If you get the chance buy and try it....you might like it as I do!!!!

The Hori N64 controller is considered the quintessential controller for your venerable Nintendo, but this is a close second. The traditional trident controller is alright as-is, but the analog stick is weak and certain combinations of control schemes are uncomfortable for some folks. (those with very large hands). This controller fixes that problem and makes it easier to handle with its minimalist prongs on the outer edge and a single center handle to grab (makes it very ambidextrous). The shark skin isn't as horrible as I thought, but be aware that non-boxed copies of this controller might have some odd wear in the skin... but it's not like those silicon covers you put on the 360/PS3 controllers, but it is as comfortable.

If you know anything about the n64 then you know the default controllers thumbstick can be murder on your thumb. With the super pad you'll never find yourself pausing and stopping to shake out your thumb from the abuse. This controller is a must if you plan on playing hours on your console. You won't be dissatisfied. Worth every penny.

Works great. I always preferred this controller over the original. It feels like an xbox controller but not as big.
