I did some comparison shopping between Trezor, Keepkey and Ledger S Nano. The fact that it had the most options for storing cryptos in a hard wallet; swayed my purchase to Ledger. I preferred their design with the stainless steel cover. Also their retail purchase was more in line with my budget for a hard wallet. If you find one on ebay that is in line with your budget parameters; bid or buy it now. You will be glad you did. I am totally satisfied with the price and product. It is the Cadillac of hardwallets. I would not be surprised if Ledger comes out with the Rolls of hardwallets in the near future.

I been using the Trezor for BTC, ETH and LTC. Bought some alt coins so thought that I'd switch to Ledger since it claims to support those too. Got it setup and want to transfer my coins to the ledger. haven't a clue how to receive coins. Watched some lame videos on how to send. What a convoluted and ultimately frustrating user experience. Shouldn't be that difficult. Ledger makes the Trezor feel like a Lambo.

For the holidays, I'm giving my kids and close friends a small basket of cryptocurrencies so I bought 6 of these Ledger Nano S cryptocurrency hardware wallets in different colors to load up with Bitcoin as gifts. I have one left over and if you are curious about cryptos, this is a great place to start and I would be happy to provide personal support on how to set it up use it. In order to own a cryptocurrency, you have to have some kind of wallet where you keep the keys. Wallets also provide some utility functions like accessing the balance of your cryptos and buying or swapping tokens you hold in that wallet. There are two kinds of wallets: software and hardware. Hardware wallets, like this Nano S are the most secure kind of wallet. There is quite a learning curve to get started in cryptos and I wanted to make the gift as simple to own and use as possible. For my kids, I set up the password and wrote down the unique 24-word mnemonic on the special cards that come with the Nano S. I plan to send each of my kids a Nano S in one package and the password/24-word mnemonic in a separate envelope for security. That way, if they are disinterested in cryptos, they can just throw it all into a drawer or a safe and forget about it and I can send more crypto to them anytime I like, on a birthday, for example. Meanwhile, they can easily move their cryptos to a different wallet if they so choose. By loading cryptos onto their wallets before sending them, I now have a dashboard in the related app, Ledger Live, where I can see the balances in all my kids accounts and easily send more cryptos (but I can't remove cryptos from their accounts because I don't have the physical device after I send it to them). I think that the Nano S needs to be more user friendly. I also think its very far behind as for ampount if altcoins available. I also think that it needs to be available on other browsers other than chrome. I dont like chrome and would prefer that the PC access to my wallet be available on any browser. Still i recommend this product and it has proven to do what it says it does.

First off you need to have Google chrome to use this because it use chrome plug ins. An exception is if you have ripple xrp then it uses a desktop app on window. Secondly it should have more coin options like "ETH Tokens" while it is easy to load in ETH any sub coin/token like XRP is a real pain. The third thing is its manager program is also Google based. It to should be a desktop program. Other than that it is fairly easy to set up. It seems to work flawlessly when downloading\uploading\transfering coins.
