About this product

Product Information

You can shoot in the 70's!Ben Hogan has long believed that any golfer with average coordination can learn to break 80 if he applies himself intelligently -- and here, with Herbert Warren Wind, and artist Anthony Ravielli, he tells you, step by step, just how to go about it.The greatest golfer of our generation has distilled his experience as teacher, player, and observer of golf into a series of richly illustrated "visual instructions" that not only can improve your game and lower your score, but also can help you get even more fun out of what many people already think is the most enjoyable game in the world. Each chapter, each tested "fundamental" is explained and demonstrated with amazing detail and clarity. It's as though the master himself were right there at your elbow, giving you a personal lesson with the same thought and care that has gone into his lifetime of golf. The Modern Fundamentals of Golf is no instant and easy shortcut. There is none. But with Ben Hogan as your pro, you can master these basic movements very quickly. And then you can go on to develop a correct, powerful swing that will repeat. As Ben Hogan says, it's only then that you'll "discover golf for the first time."

Timothy E. SickCalgaryAfter reading the first two articles, I had a 73 for the first time in my life, and hadn't played for six months before that., Frank SadlerProfessional, Bellingham Country Club, Bellingham, WashingtonIt's the first time words and illustrations have made golfing technique absolutely clear. I'm applying the lessons to my teaching program here and highly recommending them to my pupils. I'd say it's the greatest instruction series of all time. Women are particularly keen on it. It'll make a lot of new golfers -- good golfers., Jim FogertyProfessional, Sunset Country Club, St. LouisMost articles on golf deal only in theory, but Ben is to be congratulated on probably the most practical series on golf instruction ever written.

    Best book on Golf Swing,

Fantastic book on golf swing by Ben Hogan. Has excellent illustrations that make understanding the golf swing very easy. Wish I had this book when I was starting golf. Would have helped my learning curve and eliminated many frustrating mistakes.

  • Ben Hogan's Five Lessons by Ben Hogan (1990)

Most valuable single volume I've read. I'm a 52 year old who started golf about 18 months ago. After a year of shooting around 112 I found a pro I like, took some lessons, and started reading something other than magazines. This book helped me understand some of the pro's points better. The chapter on the grip is the best I've seen. Hogan's chapter on stance and muscle use combined with his thought, " start the back swing with the hands; start the downswing with the left hip probably took 4 or five strokes off my game in two weeks. Read this first, then Penicks, "Little Red Book." If you want pretty pictures, lots of options and maybe and too much information get Golf Magazine's "Golf Illustrated." If you want simple clear graphics that communicate the fundamentals of a solid ...

  • One of the best….

A great historical view of Ben Hogan’s game. Many of the pros that played against him consider him to be the best ball striker of all time. The greatest mystery is whether or not Hogan had “the” secret to golf. This book outlines his method and can help any golfer as his basic tips are still relevant today. Not to be overlooked is the artwork of Anthony Ravelli, undoubtedly the best golf illustrator of all time. One of the earlier classic golf instruction books of all time…a must have for not only the insight into Hogan’s game but the historical significance of the book itself, considered by many as the best golf instruction book of all time!

  • A goal without a plan is just a dream. This is my plan!

This book has help me to understand what I was trying to do without knowing how. Sometimes we do not know what we don't know. Now I can understand a lot more of what I am supposed to be trying to achieve in my golf swing. I am a long way off, but I now better understand how to get there. It is a great road map. I must put in the work to get there.

  • Hit it like Hogan

So Hogan had a hook and this book shows how he fixed it and what helped him maintain a repeatable swing he could count on. If you hook it then this info will help a lot, or if you’re just starting out in golf this is definitely a good read.
