I purchased a new unit about a month before this unit. The sound is incredible, and I am comparing to other brand units of similar size and cost. The Sony is able to pair up to 100 units on the Bluetooth or they can be set in Stereo mode also allowing right and left separation. Light weight and packed with sound! I also purchased protective hard-cases for them!

Overall the speaker provides a good sound (with and without the extra bass; depends on the type of music). I have two complaints about this speaker: (1) the USB power cable was WAY too short, and (2) that the speaker did not come with its own AC plug so you could leave it powered independently from being plugged into a computer (which is needed with the limited connectivity of the newer MacBook Pros).

This thing sounds great on its own, but I bought another one so I could have stereo sound. I'm not sure I'd pay full price, but if you can find one at a lower price, I think it's a pretty solid speaker, easy to use--pretty tough and water-resistant. As others have noted, the lights don't really flash with the beat of the music, and the white lights can be annoying, but the "chill" light settings are nice to use in a dark room.

Great Bluetooth speaker. Excellent sound. I bought this one because Sony came out with a new, more expensive version that is not as good. I purchased their new model for around $150 because I thought the XB-32 was so good. The sound quality on the new model is not as good as the XB-32, but if you do not have an XB-32 to compare it to, you might like it.

Used the speaker for about 7 hours on Christmas eve and still had 70% of battery power left at the end of the night. The sound quality was great and the price was right. I would recommend this speaker based on its price performance.
