I read the book review in the Denver Post and ordered it immediately as I am enamored of spy stories. This one did not disappoint; in fact, if I could give it ten stars, I would! It is the story told of female spies during WWI. Have read many spy novels about men and women in WWII but this was my first which took place in WWI. It is gripping and held on to me until the very end, an end I did not want to reach. You know when you are engrossed in a book and do not want to get to the end? This is that kind of book. I loaned it to a friend and she had the same experience; and I've bought two more to give as Christmas gifts. Cannot recommend it highly enough

Book was better than okay. But this was first & last time I will buy book thru eBay. Advertised I would have book next day with free shipping leading buyer to think I was getting actual book rather than digital ebook. Only downloaded in sections. Had to stop reading and wait s while for new section to download. No way to mark your place. Must remember where you stopped and rescroll every time. Never again !!

The book was in fair condition, not a bad price but could have been a little bit cheaper due to condition. It is a very compelling story, I have to make myself put it down to sleep or I would read all night. The author Kate Quinn is a must read or you will regret it author that comes along once or twice in a lifetime!

I bought The Alice Network (used, on ebay) for book club. I will now put it to better use as kindling. The writing is so poor as to tax credulity. Aside from the complete lack of authenticity (Quinn cops to finding much of the story from historical sources), it is difficult to believe that the book was edited at all, let alone by a native English-speaker with an education beyond, say, eighth grade. Quinn's descriptions are atrocious..."like she was struggling under a boulder," sigh...to the point of absurdity. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of compound prepositions. The characters and plot were one cliche' atop another. The Alice Network may well be the worst book I've read in my entire life.

My second book by Ms. Quinn. Ready to start my third. Strong writing. Interesting characters. Strong women and strong men who like strong women. Historical backgrounds that always leave me saying "I didn't know that". Just a great read.
