This book was purchased on the internet as new. The book is to be an addition to my family library on Native American history and culture. I myself am a Mohawk/French Canadian Metis elder, living in Massachusetts. I like the book, because of the descriptions given, with each herb and the associated methods of using the herb. Even though I feel the book is OK, I find the black and white drawings of the herbs, leaves a person questioning just what they're looking at. This is a field guide and I feel the book needed to provide colored pictures of the plants and herbs, so that there'd be no mistaking the herb. There are herbs that can be closely related and confused with poisonous plants. So, if you make a mistake in identifing the plant or herb, it could cost you your life. For those of you that purchase the herbs locally from a grower, you wouldn't have a fear about proper identification of a wild plant or herb. To me this book is not the bible when it comes to wild herb identification. I will use it in conjunction with other sources of written information on wild herbs and their uses. It will be a part of my family library for years to come.Read full review
Ever think of getting back in touch with nature? Ditching the deadly big pharma prescriptions? Well, this is one source to help get us back in touch with "how to heal ourselves." Information is complete and accurate, so far as I've been able to ascertain (in comparing with other materials I own). My only criticism is that the book possess so few images of the herbs listed. Photographs and alternate formatting of benefits -- bullet points v. paragraph -- presented would make this a better field resource.

Great book, lacking a bit on illustrations but descriptions are accurate. You have to go into the field with this in hand. I was able to identify alfalfa, Juniper, sage, mint, dandelion, oak, pine, aloe, red clover, sunflower, parsley, thyme, and catnip. The picture is dandelion root, sage, and mint
