This is an excellent book for anyone interested in understanding more about how food affects you and eating healthier. Yes, the swearing is completely gratuitous and irreverent. That is part of the fun. The information about how mainstream food is processed is very interesting and makes you think about what you put in your body. The recipes however are FANTASTIC! These recipes make you look like a chef in the kitchen - all of them are perfect for serving to company, even those who are less adventurous about food. I have got great mileage out of the pasta pie recipe because "Who the F... wouldn't want a slice of spaghetti" I have used the book personally and given it as a gift to many friends and family.

You don't have to be a vegan to like this book. Everything I have tried has been wonderful. Some of the colorful commentary is amusing, some just overdone. But it does not take away from the recipes. I have recommended this to friends and they have enjoyed it also.

The day after receiving the book, I made the chickpea biryani - way cheaper than take out and just as good (better because it's not as greasy)

While I'm not a huge fan of the swearing and demeaning overtones, the recipes are delicious.
