So far I am very pleased with this unit. I'm not technologically savvy, but after a few days of playing around with it, I was able to find the PID that measures Cam Retard on my 99 GMC k2500 with the 5.7l. I was able to turn my distributor to get the measurement between 0 and-2 and get rid of the P1345 code. Now that I figured that out, I can do it again on my 98 GMC C3500 also with the 5.7l. I will be playing around with it some more in the near future to see if I can determine an issue with my 2001 Silverado 1500 4.8l because it seems the ECU has forgotten how to idle the truck and a new throttle position sensor swap didn't do the trick. I'm not an auto mechanic, so it might seem foolish for me to have spent this much money on a tool that won't make me money, but I used to be an aircraft mechanic and I enjoy turning a wrench from time to time. I'm sure there's so many features on this unit that I will never use but dammit, I'll Google as much as possible so I can learn. I found this unit to have a feature for auto shops to input ticket/work orders to a vehicle, and it took me a few minutes to figure out how to scan a car without inputting that information. If I can figure it out, so can you! I did the updates for every vehicle that is in my immediate and extended family. I rated it 3 stars for "easy to use" because I don't like computers and computers don't like me. If you are smart with computers, then you might rate it 5 stars.Read full review

I bought this Scanner to do the prealign and calibration of the turbo actuator on my 2008 Dodge Ram Cummins. Autel's tech support assured me that the scanner had the capability to perform the procedure. I went ahead and bought it and it worked perfectly. It's easy to use and navigate through the different menus. The inspection camera works great, too. If I had to gig this scanner on anything, it would be the fact that it doesn't automatically ID some vehicles, so you have to manually enter the info. It wouldn't automatically ID my '05 Passat TDI.

I purchased the Autel scanner as an addition to two Snap-On Solus scanner as it is used in a professional full service automotive repair facility. There is a slight learning curve if you have been using a Snap-On scanner for years as we have been. Once we got used to the menu and options settings, the Autel scanner has become our preferred scanner to use. The Bluetooth connection to the ODBD2 connector really frees you up to move around the car without being restrained by a cable connection. This really useful when performing an EVAP test and you have to activate valves to see if they are leaking. The Autel scanner allows you to access more information and to perform more tests than a Snap-On scanner. The best part is that the Autel Scanner is less than half the price of a Snap-On. This scanner is a great tool and it is half the price of a Snap-On.Read full review
