bearing tolerance
The bearing that fits into the end cap was not made to correct specifications and world not fit. It seemed to be a bit large for the application. It would not fit over the shaft. The brushes etc. were fine if purchased alone.

Double check the needle bearing diameter to stator shaft.
Everything fits with the exception of the needle bearing: it fits on the outside diameter where it goes into the static housing but not the inside diameter where it contacts the rotor shaft: the bearing is too small. Perhaps I ordered the wrong kit? Seems there may have been a similar issue in a previously received kit for a trx300; the original was rusted and pitted so the assumption was the oxidation had caused the size discrepancy.
