I always hate it when you have to purchase a tool to recover from the ineptitude of engineers. In this case the ineptitude comes in two flavors; the Ford engineers who designed the plug/head clearance that collects carbon deposits, and the spark plug engineers who designed the plug with a swaged instead of welded connection to the plug tip. However, I love it when a tool is designed well and does its job efficiently and the 65600 plug removal tool is just that. I was forced to remove six of the eight plug tips with this tool and it performed flawlessly. This is a "must have" for anyone who owns one of these engines.

The tool worked great but even after removing just one broken plug, the threads on the puller stripped off in the middle leaving one good thread on at the start and end to do all the work. Did not appear to be heat treated properly. Just held my breath taking out the next six and had one plug that did not break. The instructions state that the puller is not warranted and to buy another to replace the defective one cost $25.

Wow, what a tool. This tool makes a bad day actually pretty productive. If you own a 05-10 Ford 3v engine and do your own mechanic work this tool is absolutely needed. I followed the Ford Technical recommendation to crack the plugs 1/4 turn, soak them overnight with solvent and still broke 2 plugs. So I had to do some research to see what I needed to do to get the spark plug base out of the heads. Research indicated that the Lisle tool is very good at extracting the broken piece and also very easy to use. So I ordered one from ebay. Today I pulled both spark plug bases and the tool worked remarkably well. I do not believe there is a better design or tool out there. There are many examples of spark plug tool extractors and this one works great, and is very easy to use and the price isn't too bad. Ebay is full of used Lisle 65600 tools as this tool used once is likely the only time you would ever need it as the new plugs are of a better design and most of us install them with anti-seize paste so broken plugs are unlikely during the next plug change. I have used Lisle tools throughout my 50 years of being a shade tree mechanic. All worked very well. I would highly, highly recommend this tool, it saves your day.Read full review

Lisle Spark Plug Removal tool worked great. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Broken plug removed in about 15 minutes. Don't pay high price of a dealer or shop. Wouldn't recommend attempting spark plug removal without this tool.
