Now that I've had the opportunity to use and get well acquainted with the Griots Garage BOSS G21, here's my unbiased review. When I first picked up this polisher my initial reaction was wow! This is HEAVY! Compared to the Rupes 21 Mark ii and the torq22D it was the heaviest with the rupes being the lightest. However, it felt really sturdy it should have no problem handling long hours of paint correction. I thought, could this be a byproduct of a 900 watt motor, or perhaps there was method to their madness. A little more in that later. Once in my hands I soon forgot about the weight and was amazed at the ergonomics of the G21. Holding it seemed natural as if it was molded intentionally just for my hands. The contours and rubber molding around the trigger make it comfortable along with the front grip which is also paired with rubber moldings. It was recommended to ad a washer in-between the backing plate, however I decided to go with two to have a free spinning backing plate. When I squeezed the trigger, I noticed the instant start feature. That first squeeze of the trigger startled me, but then immediately impressed me. Why? I would kind of expect the feature to jerk and vibrate heavily however, the quick start feature transitions to smooth pad rotation. At first I was weary about this feature since I was used to the slow start in the rupes, however, I grew accustomed to it. Also, it has a variable trigger so you can also control the speed via the trigger. The speed dial also has clicks as you speed up the polisher. Two other features not available in the rupes. This next feature may not be something so important to many as they don't have trouble with it, however for me it is. I'm left handed. And as we all now, we live in a right handed world. Just about everything is built around right handed people including the G21, or maybe it's not? However, because of the location and how the trigger lock is set up, I don't struggle at all to lock the trigger. With the use of my palm of my index finger and ample pressure, locking the trigger is a breeze. It's never a struggle. On the rupes, it's a constant struggle filled with frustration. In the process of locking the trigger on the rupes, I at times lose the trigger. I'll have to lift the rupes off of the paint surface just to lock it. For such a powerful machine, it runs incredibly smooth. The added weight I feel helps absorb much of the vibrations. I do feel that the rupes is smoother, however not by much. The G21 is still a well balanced machine. On flat surfaces, paint correction is easy. It melts away the swirls. As I approached curves though, I did notice the pad rotation slow down just a tad bit, however with proper technique, I never had stalling issues. This is also where I believe the extra weight comes in handy. The heavier rotating assembly combined with the powerful 900 watt motor provided me with more than enough torque to polish over curved panels. On the rupes markii I didn't have stalling issues either, however I did notice pad rotation slow down more than the G21. Overall, the G21 is a beast! It's incredibly smooth and has the best ergonomics over all. The extra weight becomes negligible after a couple of minutes of polishing. Griots Garage completely knocked this one out of the ball park. Last but not least, Griots Garage has some of the best customer service and warranty available. All in all you can't go wrong with either the G21 or the Rupes 21 Mark ii. If you have any questions or opinions please share, I'd like to hear your thoughts.Read full review

Awesome Machine I totally love it complete time capsule, I prefer this version over the new version. Works and looks as new and received it fairly quick as well. Only problem is none of the hardware was in the box - the backing plate, wrench tool & bolt and etc. What was in the box was the machine only. That don't take away from the machine tho team GRIOTS!

I've used a variable speed rotary polisher for 10+ years and decided to give the Griots Boss G21 a shot after hearing all of my fellow professional detailers talk about how much they liked it. I was pleasantly surprised with the power and ease of use. I would definitely recommend this to any professional looking to add to their stable.
