Only had the Genius1 a short time. It is very easy to set up - the biggest challenge is to correctly identify the type of battery you are connecting the Genius1 to. After that, it runs automatically. I have observed the indicator lights changing at vairous times to tell me that the battery is charged or the Genius1 is conditioning the battery. As long as you don't need a rapid charger, this device gets the job done at an affordable price.Only had the Genius1 a short time. noco smart charger
old timey 'trickle chargers' can (will) dry out the electrolyte in a car type battery, this one turns itself off, and does such things as de-sulfide. I use it to keep batteries up on seasonal tools such as lawn tractors when storing over winter. also there is one of the same brand that charges a small 12v battery that runs an old car radio in the garage. the battery was old, removed from service and not very good, but on this charger the radio/battery has worked well for years, so a couple more came home to keep batteries up on vehicles that don't get driven much, such as collector cars. old timey 'trickle chargers' can (will) dry out the electrolyte in a car type battery, this one turns itself off, and does such things as de-sulfide. An additional Noco Genius 1 chargerhas joined the family
Based on the reliability and function of two previously purchased Genius 1 chargers, when another brand burned out, I immediately purchased my third Genius 1 for equipment in our barn. I also have a Genius 2x2 keeping the emergency generator ready as well as a spare battery. (the first two NOCO's had replaced short-lived other brand chargers)

Mixed emotions
The unit is very different than the Battery Tender Jr that I am used to. Directions are not really clear so there is some guesswork concerning when it stops conditioning and moves to maintenance. The in-line connection is kind of flimsy which seems to be a common complaint. I would be on the fence about buying another right now. Let’s see how it works out.
