    Lisle 17350 Pipe Stretcher Kit

March 29, 2017. I purchased this kit after looking at other exhaust pipe expanding products and reading many reviews. For the cost, it seems to be the best option. I've been doing exhaust work as a hobby for many years and have used the expanders that are available at auto parts stores and bargain tool suppliers. About all they can do is repair out of round pipe and remove clamp dents. This kit really will expand steel pipe so that 2 pieces of the same size can be made to slip fit together. I just used it to expand a 3" OD steel pipe so that another 3" pipe could be slipped into it. I used a 1/2" drive impact wrench that has 325 ft/lbs of torque. Expansion was done in 3 stages of about 11/16" in depth each to obtain a full depth of 2". It took about 20 minutes as the tool must be rotated ...

  • Works great on stainless

I had a custom exhaust project where I needed to expand tubing for slip connections at both 2 1/4" and 3" pipe diameters. The exhaust was thick-walled German tubing. My cheap stretcher did not even touch it. This tool was capable of expanding the tubing using a modest air compressor and impact gun. The tool is very well made, even more impressive than expected. Lubricating the dies helps, I did not need to use heat at all. A quick suggestion is to insert the tool into the pipe and expand in increments, rather than the entire 2 to 3" connection length at once. It was easier and quicker with my limited impact gun.

  • Pipe expander.

Very well made, steel. Be sure to lube up everything. Unless you have a powerful impact wrench and compressor it will be difficult to use. Follow the "Utube" video and add the hydraulic cylinder from the electricians hole punch kit. (Pittcburgh Auto Hydraulic Punch kit #96718). It works. You have to be patient and rotate the tube around the dies to prevent flat spots but now you can custom make your own adapters. I have some thicker Stainless tube and it is a lot harder to expand. Normal aluminized or plain steel can be worked fairly easy in steps. There is more than one "Utube" on this. It also works for fixing damaged pipe. I had an adapter that was damaged by a muffler clamp and the die straightened it out like new. This is not made from sintered metal like the cheap ones. Machined ...

  • It was as good as I hoped it would be.

I bought this because the auto parts store stopped renting pipe stretchers. I was hesitant to spend this much money but this tool works much better than what I used to rent and seems to be holding up well but I only used it twice so far. The pipe does want to rotate a bit but I found if I just go easy with the impact then rotate the stretcher about five or six times and do a little more each time it is fine.

  • Works great!

Used auto parts store rental pipe expander and it was useless. Used this and got the job done quick.
