I bought a car on eBay from Salvatore “Sal” Cinturati from 18 Auto Sales/nycars123. I put down a deposit and tried to schedule a time and place to pick it up. All I got was one excuse after another. I spoke to a car dealer in Cape Girardeau, MO who said he also bought the same car at the same time from Sal at an online auction.
eBay Motors got involved and gave Sal an opportunity to return the deposit. He would not. In the end Bay Motors made it right and reimbursed me out of their own pocket.

Description CLEARLY states vehicle must be paid for within seven days. After 3 weeks of not receiving payment, we sold the vehicle to a dealer for $3000 less. “Buyer” made several requests, which we accommodated every single one, including bringing the vehicle to a Toyota dealer to be inspected where it sat for one week. He had us email copies of the title to his bank to secure financing. The “buyer” clearly did not have funds for the vehicle. Our 800+ feedback/20 years on eBay speaks for itself
