HOPE I HAVEN’T TRASHED MY ENGINE
2004 Explorer W/250K mi. Pumped these up in motor oil before installation.. they never got to the solid bottom like the ones that came out. Initial startup sounded horrific. However motor ran smooth and evenly so I felt good. HOWEVER upon subsequent starts it sounded like the chains were slapping horribly and now the engine is making a tapping noise that it was not before. It NEVER made the chain slapping noise with the tension era that I took out. The only reason I decided to change is the previous owner had never had it done and there was a slight wavering in the motor rpms at idle. Should have known better that to buy a low dollar part like this as it looks just like the ones that I removed however these are not for this 4.0 motor or inferior quality. Leave these in China where they belong.
Save your money and buy Cloys or ford. The spring binds on these right out of the box. The SOHC is a pile of garbage to begin with, but these make it worse.
