Easy peasy
The install itself is very simple. Pop the clips off with a flat head screw driver and the struts will slide off the of the ball. My only gripe is they have to go upside down compared to the OEM hood strut so I don't know if that will help or hurt longevity. So far so good. Seems very sturdy though as you have to help it down to close, they're strong so far though.

Simple to install. Works well.
Installed on tailgate of 2013 F150 with the first generation built-in step. The step adds some weight to the tailgate. Installation took only 15 minutes. When I let go og the tailgate it takes 3.6 seconds to lower with a soft landing. I was hoping it would take closer to 10 seconds. 3.6 seconds is extremely adequate. Time will tell if it remains as effective after some wear. If so, I'l try to put one on the other side too. The instructions say to install it on the driver's side, but it seems symmetrical and should fit either side.Installed on tailgate of 2013 F150 with the first generation built-in step.
