The delay was very likely because the box was wrapped in plastic in order to finish it's delivery journey. The company had no problems replacing the missing fluid. Thank you very much.

    Use OEM to be 100% sure.

    When it comes to a transmission that costs several thousand dollars, I felt it was best to stick with OEM fluid even though it costs more than the aftermarket ones that claim they will work with Subaru CVTs. I read too many stories of people using an aftermarket oil that then had problems with noise or slipping. The price I got here was only a little cheaper than the dealer but it was delivered right to my door.
