installed one side only with both springs. worked okay but i decided to install other side later. then i didn't finish that day and several hours of the tailgate down and the cable pulled out of crimp. i fixed it with 2 small bolt clamps so i don't recommend using only 1.. now with 2 attached only to large spring it works much better.

    Lift assist or strain yourself

    I purchased this unit with the desire to reduce the load weight when lifting the gate. With the springs enclosed and assisting the lift I wish I had gotten this earlier. I had seen other trailers with these units and decided to get them to reduce the lift weight. I recently had hernia surgery and have no desire to do that again!! Reducing the lift weight is extremely important otherwise you may consider trading the trailer in for a tilt trailer or perhaps dropping a heavy ramp and use lightweight aluminum portable ramps. I chose a lift assist unit at a great price and I'm very happy.

    Once you have properly installed the unit using your trailer will be so much easier !

    The degree of difficulty was higher than I had anticipated but I managed to install the unit . I suggest anyone installing this type of equipment have lots of mechanical skills as well as good drills and an assortment of good drill bits . It might be even wiser to have it installed by a professional . Once the job is completed you will never have to strain your back using a very heavy trailer tailgate !!

    Nice product.. slight installation glitch for my trailer

    Product works as described half the price of the same thing at the local farm and garden store. Bolts are designed for tubing rails. My trailer is made of angle iron and I had to purchase different full threaded carriage bolts to complete installation

    Great product that saves your back !

    This had good instructions with it, but they did send all the same sized washers, half should have been for the larger bolts. Other then that everything was great ! I can now lift my tailgate with one finger or stick my foot under it and give it a sharp pull up so I don't have to bend over.
