This is a great movie for young children up to teenagers. Especially with the second disc where it has the cast members how they are in real life- not as their characters. You see them as real people and how they look and act in real life and also it shows how much they enjoyed making this movie. One part of disc 2 has where they teach you how to do two of the dances that are in the musical. It goes step by step, slow motion and in real time. It also intermixes the movie dance with the teaching. My young daughter loved learning the two dances. The cast members are very good at showing and teaching the two dances. The movie on Disc 1 is great too. No kissing in the movie- except on the cheek. I look for movies that have no sexual tone in it for my young daughter and this movie was perfect because it didn't have any. I look forward to buying High School Musical 2 and I hope it is as good as this one!Read full review
I bought this for my 5 year old daughter who LOVES musicals, including Hairspray, Grease & Mamma Mia. Needless to say, she loved this one just as much and has been watching it nearly every night since we purchased it. I must say that the content is much better for her than the previuos musicals she's like as it is a Disney original movie.
I bought this because I saw The second one and liked it so decided to get the first and third. I actually liked the second one better than the first.But I definitely understand why the younger generation liked the first one too, lots of energy and cute kids, and it has a good story.

I love this movie because it is fun, uplifting and a musical! I love the bonus disc and the special features - It was fun to learn how they made the movie and choreography and such. I also loved getting Disney Reward points for this purchase!
