I had an older one before . It was not brushless. This one is brushless and I noticed it seems to weigh a bit more. But it seems to have more power than my old one . I use it mainly for cutting PVC and firing strips 1 x 2 in. I was impressed on how much it can cut on one battery fully charged. I also used it to cut a 1-1/2 inch galvanized pipe. That pretty well sucked the charge out of one battery. I also bought this tool for its size. It's great great for working in tight spaces. Like plumbing work under cabinets.

Excellent tool. Perfect gap fill tool for saplings and branches larger than easily cut by loppers, and smaller than those requiring a full chain saw. No pull starting, quiet operation, and runs forever on a 9.0 Ah battery. A bit awkward to initiate cutting with gloves on, hopefully a newer version will employ longer tabs to help with this.

Great tool - no longer need to use my manual hacksaw - variable speed and good power for cutting mild steel rod and plate. Easy to hold, light for cutting area, large selection of blade types for wood, metal, and demo work.

I've had a Milwaukee sawzall for many years and it was always a great tool for big jobs but its size limited it to just that, big jobs. This hackzall is great for the smaller jobs where you would normally use a hacksaw and manually go to it. The quick change feature for blades and ability to have the teeth facing either way add to the versatility of this tool. The M12 hackzall is my new favorite tool!

I am a dewalt guy but have to be honest this thing A million times better then my dewalt 18v sawzaw. Battery last way longer then I would have expected. plenty of juice to cut what ever you need to. the handle is great and make it very easy to hold and use one handed.
